Hello, I’m Susan…

Our voices are the most intimate tool we utilize on-air. A voice is a powerful force that relays emotion, tells stories, and brings audiences on a journey that words alone could not accomplish. It’s how we bring our personality into our craft.

I’ve spent 40 years on-air and in production learning what works, because I believe in the power of voice. And it has propelled my career. You may have heard my voiceover work on television commercials and programs, websites, and even e-learning (yup, I’m known as Vanessa in some Artificial Intelligence environments).

On-air work has fueled most of my career, but I’ve found my true passion in teaching others what I’ve learned. So I created VOSOT to formally work with clients as a broadcast voice coach, polishing the on-air sound of anchors and reporters around the country.

This was a natural next step in my career, as it fuses my on-air experience with my years teaching high level TV performance at Hofstra University. I’ve always been a teacher at heart, and there is something truly fulfilling about helping young talent find what I already know lies within.

I started out in the industry as a Shadow Traffic reporter and program director, then became a New York radio personality and news director, and later hosted and produced PBS television fundraising drives for national and local audiences. All these experiences allow me to pull from everything I’ve learned about adlib skills, writing and interviewing, and on-air delivery, along with what I’ve learned from voice acting, singing lessons, and more.

When we are working together, it’s more than a series of voice exercises. I take the time to learn about you, your goals, and your individual challenges. No two voices are the same, and every client deserves time to cultivate their talent, voice, and career. My approach is tailored to meet your unique needs, and you deserve nothing less.

I have had a successful and rewarding career, and my hope is that I can be the guiding force you need to accomplish the same. It can be a cold world out there in entertainment and news, and if I can help even one young broadcaster feel an added layer of professional support, I know I’m on the right path.
